La Vida y La Muerte

La Vida y La Muerte, photopolymer
A Photo Polymer Series, of a living to dying Orchid.
This project is a continuation of a university self-initiated project, where I had the opportunity to work at a one of London’s largest open access print studios based at Thames-Side Studios. Here I found myself to take these photo polymers and explore the stories, layout, shades of colours, the ways in which the gutter between each polymer can change the dynamic of the flow process of the orchid living and dying. I wanted to create a piece where the photography and the printmaking speaks for themselves, furthermore, a piece that any orchid lover or green thumb would like to have displayed on their walls.
Medium and Colour
Understanding and analysing the development of the orchid through colour is a Key role that contributes to the final piece of the print.
In intaglio printmaking the oil inks only come in shades where you as a printmaker with either use the original inks or mix the oils together, and to keep the entire editioning the same, I opted in to using the original coloured inks as they come in the tub. Furthermore, keeping the ink to a minimum of 3 inks was more practical as, during the time of creating this piece, it was summer, meaning as printmakers we need to work as quick and efficient as possible or else the inks will dry up on the plate.
Monochromatic version.
